room 620
So here we are, Trang, Thailand – located somewhere south of Krabi and east of where we just came from. We went to the Dr. as planned this morning to see what Amy’s platelet levels would be. With a temperature back to normal and overall energy level slightly increasing we were sure the levels would show signs of good health. When the Dr. came back with her little receipt of paper the look on her face said it all. “Although not at the dangerous level, your platelets are currently at 73,000. I am going to admit you to the hospital so that they may properly give and manage your fluids.”
It was a 3 hour journey to Trang, after frantically packing and returning our Barbie pink scooter we were on our way. It was simple really…we checked in, handed over our backpacker insurance card (crossing our fingers), waited to see the Dr. and eventually was ushered into room 620. IV is in, pills have been taken, blood drawn – now we wait.
Jokingly I tell Amy that I was planning on surprising her by staying at a fancy hotel while in Thailand, just didn’t quite think it would be the Wattanpat General Hospital. After spending two weeks in Thailand we knew that the hygiene standards would be extremely high. Walking into the hospital and eventually our room we were not disappointed. I believe that part of feeling better is being comfortable and relaxed in your environment. Outside of being at home which is where Amy would feel the most comfortable room 602 is a place Amy can relax, be comfortable and get well.
Facebook is blocked by the Hospital firewall so I’ll be providing updates via email and www.rtw365.wordpress.com

So sorry you aren’t feeling well Amy. Hopefully you will have a quick recovery and be back to your travelling soon! Thinking about you 🙂
Feel better Amy!!! You are in my prayers! I just read about it, and that does not sound like a pleasant fever to have. The name even sounds sickening! On a somewhat better note, at least you can say you really are getting the full experience over there in thailand!
