Viva La Vegan

December 10, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

As most of you back home know, I (AMY) used to be a vegetarian hypocrite. I ate chicken, fish and yes even the occasional ground beef. Yet to this day I claim I cannot eat anything that I see alive and running around before a meal.

It’s easy for me to not associate what I’m eating to barnyard pets when I do not see the process behind the preparation. Here in Africa the pigs, chickens, cows and goats you see roaming free sure makes you feel like a part of Charlotte’s Web, but you soon realize these are no barn yard pets. The animals are for one purpose, food. Africans have no problem cornering the chicken outside the kitchen window and killing it, same as the bull whose head became a “play thing” for the village children…..!

All this to say at least while in Africa, I am no vegetarian hypocrite!

Oh Amy!!! I just can’t imagine… Vegetables are wonderful!! You won’t see any stone crab rolling around, I will make sure you have some when you get home.
    Love you.

I think I would die if I saw kids playing with a cow head. Nasty!

Disgusting! Yeah….the other day I opened the freezer in the garage b/c I thought Matt had cleaned it out and I was going to put a frozen pizza in there b/c it wouldn’t fit in my freezer……Open door….see dear head starring at me…..scream bloody murder….pee my pants…slam the door…..run inside.
I do have to admit, I’m still a vegetarian hypocrite but if I read any more of your posts I might convert completely.
