Nashville meets Bulgaria

Our Bulgarian family!

Our Bulgarian family!

We know the Istanbul bus station and cafe by heart after spending 8 hrs waiting. Twice! Our days in Turkey ended on Saturday when we finally made it to Burgas, Bulgaria after  30 hrs of traveling  on 3 different buses.

If you frequented a community pool in middle Tennessee there is a good chance that your lifeguard was  from Eastern Europe. In our case it was our new found Bulgarian friend Radin. Today we write this post from the comfort of his home.

During our stay in Burgas we have been treated with the best of Bulgarian

Russian Lada - old Russian cars all over Bulgaria.

hospitality. Informed we were not allowed to “do anything” as the honored guests we were shown  many seaside towns including : Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Pomorie and Sozopol. After long hours of walking through the tranquil streets the night would close with a wonderfully prepared 3 course Bulgarian meal.

No need to explain.

No need to explain.

Not without some drama Matt got a case of Bronchitis – thankfully our Bulgarian mother took Matt to the hospital  to receive free health care. After an injection, antibiotics, many smiles and thank you’s we are ready to conquer the rest of Bulgaria. We know we always have a home in Bulgaria and promised to return soon.
