We say goodbye to The Emerald Isle

Well what more can I say about Ireland other then it was everything that we had hoped it would be. Our visit to Dublin was the first for us since we left back in July, 2007. Things were different this time around, instead of residence we were visitors. In July, 2006 Howth Villagewe took the opportunity to spend a year living and working in Ireland. I worked in sales for Dell while Amy held 2 different social work positions. The day we left is still very vivid more than 2 years later. We cleaned the apartment, left the keys on the table and walked away from one of the greatest years of our lives. We didn’t know when we would be back, yet we knew we would be back soon.

And so…that brings us to now, Dublin, the first stop on our round the world journey. When you are away from a certain place for a few years as we were you start to romanticize about the memories you had, remembering the good that easily over shadow the bad. Moore Street On this trip we could have focused all our energy on the negative; late busses, expensive food or even the windy – wet – cold – damp summers. Instead we spent 5 days enjoying everything we missed so much about Dublin. Sitting on O’Connell bridge soaking up the culture, popping into a pub for some traditional Irish music, having fish and chips at our favorite chipper and just relaxing with friends that we love so much, Seamus and Orla.

Our trip to Dublin was perfect. The perfect start to a trip that is going to bring us face to face with unfamiliar cities, people, cultures and languages. Ireland will always hold a special place in our hearts – I’m not quite sure we are ready to say good bye.
